What is Rauwolscine, or Alpha Yohimbine?
Rauwolscine is an alkaloid found in various genera of Rauwolfia (a plant) and Pausinystalia (formerly also known as Corynanthe). Rauwolscine is one of the three stereoisomers of Yohimbine (alongside corynanthine and 3-epi-alpha-Yohimbine) and is used to stimulate the central nervous system, as an aphrodisiac, and in the sports and fitness industry as a fat burner. The supplement industry primarily uses four plant species to obtain rauwolscine:
- Rauwolfia Serpentina
- Rauwolfia Vomitoria
- Rauwolfia Canescens
- Pausinystalia Yohimbe
What are the effects of Rauwolscine, or Alpha Yohimbine?
Rauwolscine, also known as alpha-yohimbine, is an alpha-2 receptor agonist and primarily increases lipolysis (the breakdown of body fat), which "burns more fat" during physical activity. Two important points should be taken into account:
- Yohimbine should be taken on an empty stomach, as insulin and other substances can negate its fat-breaking effect.
- About 30–45 minutes after taking it, you should complete an endurance-focused cardio session to use the fat cells that have been broken down.
Compared with ephedrine and other "hardcore fat burners," yohimbine targets problem areas more, since these areas have the highest concentration of alpha-2 receptors. Rauwolscine, or alpha-yohimbine, also works longer and more effectively than yohimbe or yohimbine HCL.
